Why does OKX need my ID and a selfie?
Licensed exchanges must verify customers under anti-money-laundering rules. It also protects you:
- Safer P2P: counterparties can match payment names to verified accounts.
- Account recovery: your verified identity proves ownership if you lose access.
- Harder takeovers: a stolen password alone won’t pass a face check.
Can I use OKX without KYC?
Without verification you can browse prices, but deposits, trading, P2P and new-user rewards all require it. Use your own document and your own face; nobody else’s.

- Renting out your identity: if the account is used to move scam proceeds, investigators come to you.

What happens to my data if I delete the app?
- Deleting the app doesn’t close your account. Log back in and everything is there.
- After closing an account, exchanges usually must keep identity records for a legal retention period under AML rules; see OKX’s privacy policy.
- Verification doesn’t touch your credit score or bank accounts.
“Please re-verify your account” messages
Typical lines: “Your account is at risk, re-verify via this link” or “KYC expired, assets will be frozen.” Don’t click, don’t call back. Open the official app and check for real tasks there, and verify any contact in the Official verification channel.
