OKX payment methods:
how to fund your first buy.
Your first deposit is where most beginners hesitate. Depending on your country, OKX offers card and wallet payments, bank transfers and P2P. Here’s how each works, what it costs, and what to do if a P2P trade goes sideways.
Three ways to fund your first purchase
| Card / Apple Pay / Google Pay | Bank transfer | P2P | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it works | Buy crypto directly in Buy Crypto → Express | Send local currency, then buy on spot | Buy USDT from a verified user |
| Speed | Instant | Minutes to a day | Minutes |
| Cost | Processing fee shown before you pay | Usually low | No platform fee; seller sets price |
| Good for | A small first buy | Regular deposits | Regions without card or bank options |
Which options you see depends on where you live. The OKX app only shows the methods available for your verified country.
Buying crypto with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay
- Complete ID verification.
- Open Buy Crypto → Express, choose the coin (USDT or BTC) and your currency.
- Pick card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, check the total including fees, and confirm.
- The crypto lands in your funding account within moments.
Express purchases are the most convenient but not the cheapest: the processing fee is built into the quote. For repeat deposits, bank transfer usually costs less.
Bank transfer deposits
In supported regions (for example SEPA in Europe), you can deposit local currency by bank transfer and then buy crypto on spot. The sending account must be in the same name as your OKX account; third-party payments are returned or rejected. Keep the transfer reference exactly as shown in the app.
How OKX P2P works
On P2P you buy USDT directly from another user, with OKX holding the seller’s crypto in escrow until they confirm your payment. There’s no platform fee.
- Choose Buy → USDT → your currency, and filter by payment method.
- Pick a seller with plenty of completed orders and a high completion rate.
- Pay from an account in your own name within the order timer, then tap “I have paid”.
- The seller releases the USDT once they see your payment.

OKX P2P seller not releasing? Do this
- Make sure you actually tapped “I have paid”.
- Message the seller in the order chat with your payment proof.
- When the release timer runs out, tap Appeal, choose “paid but not released”, and upload your proof.
Never cancel an order after paying: cancelling ends OKX’s escrow protection. And never tap “I have paid” before paying; that can get P2P restricted on your account.
How long do OKX P2P appeals take? What if my order was cancelled?
Support usually contacts both sides first; resolution ranges from under an hour to a day or two. Keep all talk inside the order chat.
- Cancelled before paying: the order is void; start a new one. Many cancellations in one day can temporarily block P2P orders.
- Paid but the timer expired: contact support and the seller right away with proof, and ask for a refund or release.
Can I use a credit card on OKX? Do I need USDT first?
Where card purchases are offered, some credit cards work, but many banks block crypto purchases or treat them as cash advances with extra fees. More importantly, it means buying a volatile asset with borrowed money. A debit card or bank transfer is the better habit.
You don’t always need USDT first: Express lets you buy BTC directly. But on P2P, USDT is the most liquid option, and buying USDT first makes it easy to buy any coin on spot later.
OKX payment
method questions.
01Does OKX charge a fee for P2P?
No platform fee. You pay the seller’s quoted price. Spot trades afterwards have normal trading fees, 20% lower with a referral code.
02Why is Apple Pay not showing for me?
Payment options depend on your verified country and the third-party provider. If it isn’t listed, it isn’t offered in your region yet.
03What’s the minimum P2P order?
Each seller sets a minimum, often a small amount. Start with the smallest order you’re comfortable with.
04A seller asked me to chat off-platform. OK?
No. Off-platform deals lose escrow protection and are a classic scam setup.
05Where does my USDT go after buying?
Into your funding account. Transfer it to your trading account to buy other coins on spot.
06Can a friend pay for my order?
No. Payments must come from an account in your own name, or the seller may refuse and refund.
